Route 120, which happens to be the old route between Chicago and Detroit, is 2-lane, no shoulders, but good pavement and light traffic. Turned south on 64 at Metamora. 64 is generally good pavement, handlebar width shoulders about 50% of the time. The last 5 miles into Bowling Green were actually dangerous due to a guard rail protecting a deep ditch and crumbled or no shoulder. Cars had to wait to get around – absolutely nowhere to get off the road.
All farmland with miles of dry corn fields and other crops. Some small towns. Bowling Green, home to Bowling Green University, has a really nice center city area with many shops and eating establishments.
In Swanton, ABC13 reporter Jenna Lento and photographer Miguel Daytan showed up to interview me for the 11pm news. When they arrived, we happened to be parked in front of a railroad crossing in Swanton that sees 120 trains every day!
Camped at Fire Lake Camper Park – Passport America park – normally $16 Passport rate, very nice owner/host charged us $11 and gave the other $5 to C.O.P.S.

See you spent a couple nights in Bowling Green, Ohio at Fire Lake Campground. That is the same campground where my sister and brother-in-law have seasonal camped for several years. We’ve had one group after you guys in the middle of August that were heading east. We were not able to talk with the riders, only their “trailer” who seemed to be getting tired of having to set up and take down camp (the tent) for the three of them everynight. He said they were averageing about 85 to 100 miles per day; but had not clue of their end goal date. Thanks again for staying with us… Camp S’more Campgrounds, Long Prairie, MN
