Fairly strong headwind most of the day. Roads had good shoulders and good pavement for the most part – just a few areas without shoulders. Moderate traffic with surprising number of tractor trailers on Route 4 North from Fort Ann NY to Fair Haven VT. Route 4 in VT from Fair Haven to Rutland is an Interstate with limited access = no bicycles. Must use 4A which is a scenic route through several small quaint communities, including Castleton which claims to be the sight of the first college in Vermont.
Parked overnight at the Price Chopper parking lot in West Rutland with permission from the store manager. We both love Stewart’s Ice Cream and there just happened to be a Stewart’s across from the Price Chopper! Dessert!
